Fees

Hampstead Medical is a MIXED BILLING clinic. Please take a moment to review our billing guidelines below.

Medicare Rebate (no out-of-pocket cost) Eligibility

  • Children under 16 years of age
  • Adults aged over 65 years
  • Holders of a valid Healthcare Card or Pension Card

Exceptions: Out-of-pocket costs APPLY to the following, even if you meet the above criteria:

  • Procedures
  • New Patients
  • Skin Checks
  • Travel Consultation
  • Travel Vaccines (full fee; NOT COVERED by Medicare)
  • Cosmetic Consultation/Procedures
  • Telehealth Appointments
  • Saturday Appointments
  • Eating Disorder Care Plans

Important: Please ensure your valid concession card details are on file prior to your appointment. We are unable to reverse charges if the card is presented after payment.

Private Billing

Patients aged 16 to 65 years, who do NOT hold a valid concession card, will incur an out-of-pocket fee for consultations. All Telehealth consultations are privately billed, regardless of age and concession status, due to current Medicare guideline and the additional time and administrative processes involved in coordinating remote care effectively.

New Patients

You are considered a new patient if:

  • You have never visited our clinic as a patient, or
  • It has been more than 2 years since your last GP consultation

New Patient Fees:

  • A $50 deposit is required to secure your appointment
  • For Medicare cardholders, a rebate is available after your visit (if applicable)
  • For non-Medicare cardholders, full payment is required after the consultation. An invoice will be provided for you to claim back through your private health insurance. We DO NOT process private health transactions for GP consultations and are unable to advise on how much of the fee will be covered by insurance. The fee covers the consultation only and excludes third-party charges (e.g. pathology, imaging).

Procedures and Specialised Consultations

The following services incur an out-of-pocket fee and require a deposit at the time of booking:

  • All procedures
  • New patient consultations
  • Mental Health Care Plans
  • Eating Disorder Care Plans
  • Travel Consultations
  • Telehealth Consultations

Prior to commencing any procedures, the fees will be discussed with you by the treating Doctor or one of our team members.

Did Not Attend / Late Cancellation Fee Policy

To ensure fair access to care for all patients, our clinic has a Did Not Attend (DNA) / Late Cancellation Fee policy.

  • General Appointments: A DNA Fee will apply after three (3) missed appointments or late cancellations.

  • New Patients, Long Appointments, and Procedures: A DNA Fee applies immediately if the appointment is missed or cancelled late.

  • Notice Required: At least 24 hours’ notice is required to cancel or change your appointment.

Missed or late-cancelled appointments reduce availability for other patients in need of timely care. Please respect our policy so we can continue to provide the best possible service to the community.

Payment and Medicare Rebates

We accept payment via EFTpos, Credit Card or Cash. A Medicare rebate can be processed immediately through our payment facility for eligible services. For online rebate processing, please ensure your bank details are up to date with Medicare.
